• The Music Ministry at Star of the Sea parish helps proclaim our Catholic faith by being together as a community to boldly sing our faith each weekend as well as on special feast days and holy days of obligation throughout the year.
• The Star of the Sea choir, a fun-loving group of adults, sings at our 10:00 a.m. Mass every Sunday as well as on special feast days and holy days of obligation from September through June. Our choir rehearses every Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the church. If you are an adult age 18 or older and enjoy singing, please join us on Thursday evenings and we will help you settle in!
• Our cantors provide a vital role in our liturgies by leading the singing for every weekend Mass as well as on special feast days and holy days of obligation. They have a great knowledge in the music they practice weekly by attending rehearsals and teaching that music to the assembly when it is unfamiliar. They also possess important skills such as being able to sing in front of a congregation, the ability to sing in tune and the willingness to be trained. Our cantors currently rehearse every Thursday from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.
• Our instrumentalists mostly play at our 10:00 a.m. Mass, but all are welcome to join us at any Mass on the weekend or on special feast days or holy days of obligation.
• Our youth choir and instrumentalists (coming soon!) provide their musical gifts once a month at our 10:00 a.m. Youth Sunday Mass. This group is open to those in Grades 3 through 12. Those in LifeTeen who are interested in singing, playing their instruments or being a cantor for these Masses are most welcome to join us for rehearsal every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the church. These Masses occur from September through Mary (concurrent with the LifeTeen schedule.)
• Anyone who is 18 years of age or older and is volunteering in any ministry at Star of the Sea must be in full compliance with the Office of Safe Environment. For information on becoming compliant, please contact Grace in the parish office 757.428.8547.

• All who are members of our various ministries at Star of the Sea are considered volunteers. All Adults who are 18 years or older who plan to join any part of this
ministry or any ministry must take the required VIRTUS training.
