New Evangelization Team (N.E.T.) of Star of the Sea Parish
New Evangelization is a call to proclaim the Gospel anew.
Our Mission Statement is: Love God. Love Others. Make Disciples.
We are called to…
~ Be active members of our church community,
~ Grow in our relationship with Jesus,
~ Share our faith with others.
Please contact Nancy Liette at the Parish Office, 757-428-0788 , if you are interested in being part of the New Evangelization Team or would like to attend a monthly meeting to check it out.

Baking and Decorating
Would you like to bake goodies or decorate for parish receptions?
Community Life Committee
Members from each area of Community Life come together quarterly to develop a cohesive parish community where all feel they belong.
Helping Hands of Star of the Sea
Open to all members of the parish. Its purpose is to provide care of small or large maintenance projects around the church and grounds. The group meets most Saturday mornings, but you do not need to commit to every Saturday.
Men’s Faith Formation
Open to all men of the parish. The group usually meets the Second Wednesday of the month at 7pm in Crawford Hall A.
Parish Events Committee
This committee offers various opportunities to bring the parish together and build community. Activities are as follows:
Parish Picnic
All Hallows Eve Family Event
Caroling by the Sea
Winter Gathering
Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Supper
Parish Events Set up/ Clean up
People are needed to help set up and clean up at Parish Events.
Volunteer Parking Lot
On certain summer holiday weekends the parish rents out parking spaces in the Church parking lot when not in use for Mass or weddings. Teams of 3-4 people work in shifts of 4 hours each. This is a wonderful time to meet new people and to raise money to reduce our parish debt. Older teens (14+ years) and adults are encouraged to volunteer.
Publicity Person
The Angel Gabriel is a good example of a joyful announcer. Do you have the gift of pulling together ordinary information into a “joyful package?” If so, this area of communication is in need of your gifts.
Seamstress/Tailor
Individuals needed to share their sewing talents for the making of liturgical/sacramental garments and decorations.
Senior Adults – The Shining Stars
Serving an ever-growing segment of Star of the Sea Church, the Shining Stars celebrate the lives of those 60 and over who continue to age “graciously and gracefully.” Each month of the year, usually the second Friday, a birthday celebration begins with noon Mass followed by a potluck luncheon, complete with birthday cake, to honor those born that month. Programs of interest to seniors can be incorporated into the monthly meeting in the form of speakers and entertainment. Additional off-site excursions may include historic tours, theater performances and dinner, Tides baseball games, or any fun activity in which there is an interest.
Welcome Desk Team
Is your smile infectious and do you have an interest in meeting new people? Please consider joining the Welcome Desk Team and becoming a part of a ministry that continues the tradition as a warm and welcoming Parish.
Women’s Club
Fellowship is an important role in a Church. This group of women of all ages meets to craft, quilt, or share other interests, as well as a cup of coffee and a treat. The Women’s Club also sponsors a ‘lending library’ for the parish, and knitting prayer shawls for the sick. The group meets every Wednesday at 10am in room 5 of the parish hall.
Young Adults Group
Star of the Sea’s Young Adult group provides an opportunity for those in their 20’s and 30’s to meet for social activities. Information about the details of the coming meetings will be provided in the weekly bulletin. Please join us! To join the group and get on the email list, click here!
