The Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, VA, will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 6:00 PM.  Bishop Barry C. Knestout will preside, and priests are invited to renew their commitment of service.  During the Mass, the holy oils (Oil of Catechumens, Oil of the Sick, and Sacred Chrism) will be blessed for use throughout the diocese.

The Chrism Mass is part of the Jubilee Year 2025, and the cathedral is one of the designated pilgrimage sites.

We are gathering RSVPs for this very special Mass and, depending on the number of interested parishioners, we will then determine whether we should carpool or charter a bus.  If a bus is chartered, the parish will pay for half the cost.  In order to avoid rush hour and tunnel traffic, we estimate that we will be leaving Star of the Sea between 3:00 and 3:30 PM to reach the Cathedral in time to settle in and find seats for 6:00 PM Mass.  We will communicate exact plans closer to the event.

If you have any questions, please contact the parish office at 757-428-8547 and ask for Grace Jones, or reach out to a member of the Parish Council.
