Social Ministry
Mission Statement
With Christ as our cornerstone, social ministry at Star of the Sea seeks to assist our church community in living the gospel in word and action focused on Catholic Social Teachings and the diocesan process for social ministry, action-reflection-transformation.
Intention
The Church calls us to:
- Charity: giving assistance to those in need.
- Justice: helping to change structures/laws that oppress.
Committe Member
This committe assesses and responds to the needs of the hungry, oppressed, homeless, and needy in the parish, local community and the world. It promotes legislative advocacy, peacemaking and efforts to change hearts and social structures. Meetings are about 4 times per year.
Events/Activities
Pantry Weekend is every third weekend of the month. Rice Bowl occurs during the season of Lent.
